Gardenias:

Gardenias are evergreen shrubs with very fragrant flowers and typically have very nice shiny green foliage. There are lots of varieties of Gardenias that range in growth habit from groundcover to large screening plants. Some new varieties have been selected to more cold tolerant, while older varieties are very cold sensitive. Gardenias need well drained acidic soil to perform well. We struggle with Gardenias in my part of North Carolina, because of heavy clay soils.
